Wordless Wednesday: First Day of School

The first day of school was last week. It has defiantly been really busy and kind of  very crazy. My son was super excited. He is in first grade and has always loved school. My daughter wanted nothing to do with it. She is in kindergarten. Here is a picture of the first day.

Quotes

Quote at Acura dealership (Photo credit: eszter)
I love quotes. When I feel sad or upset, I always seem to reach for a quote or a song to make myself feel better or to put my mindset back where it needs to be. I asked people on Facebook what their favorite quotes were. Here are the responses:

“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Christopher Robin to Pooh

~A.A. Milne

What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family."
~Mother Teresa

“I love you also means I love you more than anyone loves you, or has loved you, or will love you, and also, I love you in a way that no one loves you, or has loved you, or will love you, and also, I love you in a way that I love no one else, and never have loved anyone else, and never will love anyone else.”

~Jonathan Safran Foer

"If you live your life afraid to die, your afraid to live"

 ‎"What goes around, comes around".

Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching?

"It's fun to do the impossible"
~Walt Disney

What are your favorite quotes?

Bullying

My six year old boy is in first grade. He is already being bullied pretty harshly in school. I knew at some point that I would have to deal with this issue, but i didn't realize it would happen so young. I am asking for some feedback. Has your kid been bullied in school? What age did the bullying start? What did you do about the bullying?

What Did I Just Say

We all know kids say the funniest things. I could make a post everyday on things my kids say. I knew before having kids that this would be one of the cute things I could enjoy. What I didn't know before having kids was some of the things I would say out loud! Had someone told me the things I would say, I wouldn't have believed them. As a parent it's everyday life. But if you were hanging around I'm sure you'd get a laugh at it. Here is a few things I've said aloud in the last week.

1.Use your words- I heard this by other parents before I had kids didn't get it. Soooo get it now. I say it to often.
2.Please don't put makeup on your brother or the dog.
3.No you can't marry your aunt-My 5yr old was talking about marriage and asking questions about it. I told him when he gets way older he will marry someone that he loves. He has a favorite aunt. Told him it's a different kind of love.
4.Please don't put underwear on your head.
5.I'm sorry you can't grow peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches - We have planted a few flowers and my kids were asking what else they could grow. My 5yr old and 4yr old insist on planting a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so it can grow.
6.Farting on people is not funny.
7.Get the Lego's out of the speakers.
8.No you can not dip your chicken in chocolate.
9.If you keep putting things in your nose, its going to get stuck.

Now that your done laughing at me. What are some funny things you've said lately?

Sugar and Lemon Scrub

My face has been breaking out really bad! I'm freaking 29 years old. Why is my face acting like a teen? I decided to google face scrubs made from stuff in your pantry. Ive tried so many different kinds of  face washes. I really don't think there is a need to waste more money  on any more. I came across this!!!!!!!

I love me some Kandee!!!! I have done this once so far. It was very easy. It was not very messy at all. My skin does feel smoother already. I am going to keep doing this every few days. I will let you know what I think of it after I try it a few more times.

Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko Review

A huge thanks to Progresso and My Blog Spark! They gave me an amazing  opportunity to review Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko as well as an autographed copy of chef Chiarello's new cookbook: Michael Chiarello's Bottega. I used the Panko on boneless, skinless chicken breasts. It was delicious! The breading was nice and crunchy. Most bread crumbs end up all soggy! The lemon pepper flavor was perfect. It tasted just as good reheated the next day!. I have three little ones (4,3,1). Getting them to eat new things can be a pain. They all inhaled it! I couldn't believe it. We are defiantly going to put Panko on our shopping list. My husband cant wait until we can try it on fish. All in all a big thumbs up from me.

Whether frying, baking or broiling, this culinary superstar adds a flavorful crunch to create simple, savory recipes. Made from the soft, tender centers of the bread, Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko combines the perfect crunch with effortless flavor to give any dish that extra punch. The large, flaky crumb has a coarser texture than traditional bread crumbs, delivering a lighter, crunchier coating or topping.

A chef known for his emphasis on creating delicious dishes with fresh, premium ingredients, Chef Michael Chiarello uses panko as his go-to bread crumb for a crunch that won’t quit. An Emmy-award winning TV chef and cookbook author, Chef Chiarello is the tastemaker behind Bottega Napa Valley Restaurant, NapaStyle and Chiarello Family Vineyards, and appears on The Cooking Channel and Top Chef Masters only on Bravo.

Chef Chiarello is helping cooks everywhere use Progresso’s panko to make flavorful, flawless recipes including Crispy Seafood Salad, Mama Chiarello's Stuffed Eggplant and Turkey Scallopini and Squash Ravioli with Cranberry Brown Butter.

Visit the Progresso website for additional recipes, tips for cooking with panko, video and a coupon for $1 off any panko flavor.

“Panko has been a major part of some of my best crunchy dishes for years,” says Chef Chiarello. “It’s exciting to bring those dishes home, where some of the best dining memories are made. To me that’s what cooking is all about – sharing meals with your friends and family, and the memories you get to keep for a lifetime.”

Additionally, be sure to check out the Progresso's Wine & Dine with Chef Michael Chiarello Sweepstakes. Now through December 31st, participants can enter for the chance to win a trip for two to Napa Valley to attend the Spring Bud Break Party, an annual dinner and wine tasting event taking place on May 7, 2011. In addition to two tickets to the party, the grand prize also includes roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations. Visit http://www.progressobroth.com/ for the sweepstakes rules and entry form.

Disclosure: Information, Panko, and cookbook were all given to me from General Mills through MyBlogSpark. This did not effect my review in anyway. I only give honest reviews.

Halloween Ideas

A digital picture of a candy apple, taken by L...Image via Wikipedia

I am looking for some Halloween crafts to do with the kids.  Crafts geared toward 3-5 years old. Crafts are one of their favorite things to do.. Is there any good links or ones you've done in the past? What about cool snack Halloween recipe's the kids can help make? We love anything hands on! Is there any preschool stuff that they can learn with the Halloween theme. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A&E Presents: Teach Tony Danza-Real Life Drama In The Classroom

A&E TV presents TEACH TONY DANZA. Danza struggles to make an unexpected and dramatic career shift but he’s also giving back to the community by teaching 10th grade English at an inner-city high school. The school is a true mix of different socio-economic classes among the students – challenging him to find ways to connect with students across a variety of backgrounds. It’s a tough crowd….will he succeed in being a positive role model for these kids?

The seven episode series premieres on Friday, October 1st at 10PM/9C.

Synopsis:
Long before his iconic acting career, which includes roles in “Taxi” and “Who’s The Boss,” Tony Danza received a degree in History Education. During the 2009-2010 school year, he took on his most challenging and rewarding role yet as he stepped into the classroom as a full-time teacher at Philadelphia’s Northeast High School . “Teach: Tony Danza” follows the first year-teacher as he instructs a 10th-grade English class with 26 students in back-to-back 45-minute periods.

The series will look at the challenges Danza faced and the rewards he experienced as a first-year high school teacher. Under the watchful eye of Northeast Principal Linda Carroll and in-classroom teaching coach David Cohn, Danza applied incredible creativity and ceaseless dedication in his day-to-day tasks of planning lessons and executing them in the classroom, administering quizzes and exams, grading homework, engaging in small learning communities with other faculty, and meeting with parents.

Upcoming episodes -

“BACK TO SCHOOL” - Friday, October 1 at 10/9C

Mr. Danza arrives at Northeast High School in Philadelphia and meets most of the faculty, including his teaching advisor, David Cohn, and ball-busting principal, Linda Carroll, who warns Mr. Danza that if he screws up, he’s out. On the first day of school, he meets his diverse class of students, but soon learns that teaching is harder than he realized when one student questions whether or not Mr. Danza is qualified to be teaching anything. And in an attempt to bond with two of his students on the football team, he becomes an assistant coach. He then realizes he knows far less about coaching football than teaching English and questions whether or not he made a mistake becoming a teacher.

“TESTED” - Friday, October 8 at 10/9C

After half the class fails their first quiz on “Of Mice and Men,” Mr. Danza fears that most of his students aren’t doing their work. As a result, he risks legal repercussions when he denies three of his “special needs” students the use of the resource room because he thinks they’re being lazy. And to make matters worse, Mr. Danza’s brightest student wants to drop out of his English class because he isn’t being challenged enough. Pushed to the limit, Tony breaks down in tears.
